Description of the wine:
Oroszlán/Lion: True to its name, this wine is muscular, instinctive, and follows its own rules. The unique character of the Szeleshát vineyard is clearly recognizable in it. Its backbone is Cabernet Sauvignon, made truly complex through a unique blend with Merlot, Kékfrankos, and Pinot Noir. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks was followed by a year of aging in new Hungarian oak barrels.
Vibrant acidity combined with alcohol and pleasant tannins, thanks to the Kékfrankos and Pinot Noir in the blend.
Vinification:
Harvested in the beginning of October by machine. Destemming and crushing then transferred gently to the temperature controlled steel tanks. Fermentation started from 18 Celsius and ended up slowly at 22 Celsius to extract more colour and tannins. Punching down by hand, 2-3 times/day during 2 weeks. With gentle pressing, we than transferred to barrels and aged the wine for 12 months in new Hungarian oak
Barrel:
12 months of barrel ageing in new barrels in our old underground cellar at fix temperature 15 Celsius.
